Accessing Files Created by Your Students
|
When you're logged in using a teacher or staff account,
you can always access student files created in your classroom
(or any other classroom or lab) from the T:\ drive. Just
locate the folder corresponding to the classroom that the
files were created on. For example, files created by students
in Room 503 will be located at T:\ROOM503 as in the screen
shot below:

Installing New Programs on your Classroom
Computers
STEP 1
|
Your classroom computer is configured to automatically
login using a special student account that is restricted
(cannot make changes to settings, add/remove programs, etc).
The first step in installing new programs
is to log out as the student, then login using your teacher/staff
account. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click on the Start button.
- Hold down the SHIFT key on the keyboard. Important:
Continue holding the SHIFT key until step 2.
- Click "Log Off" as in the screen shot below.
Please note that if you do not continue holding
in the SHIFT key until the Log On screen appears, the computer
will automatically login as the student again and you will
not be able to install your programs.

|
|
|
Step 3
|
|
When the log on screen appears, you can release
the SHIFT key. Enter your login credentials on this screen
and press OK to login.

Step 4
|
Install the program that you want to make
available on these student computers. Please note that you
will have to install the program on each computer, but you
only need to follow the rest of the steps below ONCE.
Following the steps below will create shortcuts
on ALL of your classroom computers once you've installed
the program.
Once the installation is complete, you will
need to copy the shortcuts to the program to the student
start menu or desktop.
If the program that you just installed
placed a shortcut on the desktop:
- Right-click on the shortcut and select COPY.
If the program that you just installed did
not place a shortcut on the desktop:
- Right-click on the start menu and select "Explore"
- Navigate to the "Documents and Settings" folder
on the C:\ drive.
- Expand the "All Users" folder
- Expand the "Start Menu" folder
- Expand the "Programs" folder
- Locate the shortcut for the program that you just installed.
- Right-click on the program shortcut and select "Copy"
as in the screen shot below.

Step 5
|
Now that you've copied the shortcut to the
clipboard, you need to paste it into the desktop or shortcut
menu of the profile corresponding to your room number by
following these steps:
To place a shortcut on the computer's desktop:
- Navigate to T:\Lab-Profiles
- Locate your room number in the list, and expand that
folder.
- Right-click on the Desktop folder and select Paste.
To place a shortcut on the computer's Start
Menu:
- Navigate to T:\Lab-Profiles
- Locate your room number in the list, and expand that
folder.
- Expand the Start_Menu folder
- Click on the Programs folder.
- Right-click on the Programs folder and select Paste.
