Allowing Guets to Access the District's WiFi

This document walks you through the process of granting a guest to the school to temporarily access the school district's wireless network. Please make sure that you understand the following about guest access:

  • These instructions will only work from on-campus computers. They will not work if you are accessing the network from the internet. If you need to generate a guest key from off-campus, please contact the help desk.
  • Guest access is to be allowed only for authorized guests of the school. If guest access is granted to persons who have not checked in with the district office and received a visitor's pass, you are violating the district's acceptable use policy.
  • Guest access should be allowed only for as long as the guest will be using the network.
  • Guest passes can only be used by a single WiFi enabled device.
Step 1: Accessing the Guest Key Page

Enter the following web address into a browser (or click this link): https://192.168.4.5/guestpass -- when you see the screen below, login with your district username and password.

Step 2: Enter the Guest Information
When prompted with the screen below, enter the guest's full name, the duration of the period that the guest pass is valid, and any remarks that you may have. Keep in mind that every guest pass is audited by the district's IT department. When complete, click the "Next" button.
Step 3: Print the Instructions for your Guest

When the screen below appears, click the "Print Instructions" link. You can either print the instructions, or copy and paste them into an email to your guest. The guest can now connect to the "GCUSD-GUEST" wireless network. They will be prompted for a guest pass aftter they connect to the network and open a browser window. When they are prompted for a guest pass, have them enter the guest pass that you generated for them.
