CTE - Culinary
In conjunction with our local hospitality and other business leaders, Grand Canyon School is committed to providing CTE (Career and Technical Education) opportunities to our students. We currently offer a Culinary Arts program that enables our High School students to learn the skills and techniques of professional cooking, baking, food service/preparation operations and catering as part of a 2 year curriculum based on Arizona CTE standards. Students have the unique opportunity to learn and work in our industrial sized kitchen area that doubles as our food service and preparation location, serving 2 daily meals to our entire school student population. Our program exists as part of CAVIAT - Coconino Association for Vocations, Industries, and Technology. For your convenience, we have attached the SY 2021-2022 syllabus to this webpage.
In addition to the AZ-CTE directed curriculum and hands-on learning, students actively participate in work based learning opportunities hosted by our local industry professionals. Guidance is also provided by our guidance and career counselor for any student interested in pursuing a possible career in the Culinary Arts.
As part of our program, GCS is an affiliate member of the AZ-CTE approved CTSO organization, FCCLA. This organization provides leadership, competition, and scholarship opportunities to all of our FCCLA members.
